11/24b - Thanksgiving extra credit:
1) Relight a candle without touching the wick by lighting the smoke trail.
2) Baking soda and vinegar produce carbon dioxide.  See if you can put a fire out by "pouring" the gas.
3) Uncooked liver (or yeast) will catalyze hydrogen peroxide's decomposition to produce pure oxygen.  See if you can relight a blown-out (but still ember-glowing) fire with it.  Works better in a small container that will keep the oxygen concentrated.

11/24a - shampoo part 2:  Read http://sci-toys.com/ingredients/shampoo.html
On your paper with your shampoo ingredients, write a brief paragraph:  What's your favorite ingredient and why?  What would your hair/shampoo be like without it?  You can write sentences and/or draw a picture.

11/23 - ionic shampoo!: When you take a shower tonight and soak away the stresses of another week of school, swing your thoughts back to chemistry class for just a second and take a gander at the list of ingredients on your shampoo bottle. See all them ionic compounds? Grab a paper and pencil and make a list of them. How do you recognize ionic compounds? They usually end in -ide, -ate, or -ite.
